Pro-Life v. Pro-Choice
Abortion is a topic of great controversy, there is no doubt about that. Sometime in history, people began to realize that abortion was not a sin. The Catholic Church and other religions would like to believe that abortion is a sin, but it is not, it is a medical procedure and a solution to problems that can become bigger if left alone. Abortion is a healthy option for women who are in a situation which is dire and difficult and it does not send them to hell, as some religions would like to believe.
People die in the world every day, life and death go hand in hand. Sometimes we get stuck into an idea of what things should be, but not everyone is the same and abortion has been the solution to unwanted pregnancies. Planned Parenthood has offered solutions to women for a long time, and education is necessary for the wellbeing of a population that is oftentimes vulnerable if it is left to authorities as to what women should do with their bodies.
Decisions over a woman's body has been left to a group of people, mostly men in high positions who believe that women should have small waists, should have children when they become pregnant and who should be amiable and pleasant when addressing them, that they should become wives to fulfill their purpose in life, as if something was owed to men based on a woman's behavior.
Don't get me wrong, children are and will always be our future, but when a person or a couple is not prepared to have a child, there are options which allow them to change their lives. Roe v. Wade has been trashed by many politicians who believe that they know best, that the lives of women don't matter. Abortion is a decision made by a woman and it should be supported when she feels there is no alternative solution to her situation.
Recently learning about the enterprise of Victoria's Secret and its history, I have come to realize how blind we have been to the value of women. There was a time when women literally injected materials in their body to fit the mold of what society thought was beautiful, this is disturbing, mutilation and transformation of organs for the sake of men. On top of this, women have been put on the spot at to how to portray their bodies when they appear in public, when faced with decisions, or when they are in the spotlight. This is not a fair situation, as we can see.
When someone decides to have an abortion, society cannot shame them, this is a personal decision that has been proven medically to work and to serve as an outcome for rushed decisions made without planning. The belief that a dark cloud will come over someone's life if they have a medical procedure is not only irrational but untrue and absurd. I commend women who have taken the initiative to value themselves and to make decisions that empower them.
